The Center for Content Understanding (CCU) was formed in 2012 as part of Applied Research Laboratories, The University of Texas at Austin (ARL:UT). CCU functions within ARL:UT's charter as a University Affiliated Research Center (UARC).

CCU's mission is to conduct research and develop guidance on the application of technology to real-world problems in content understanding. CCU performs applied and basic research as well as tests and evaluations for the federal government, addressing data analysis and inference for complex, context-dependent tasks.
